  • A Guide to childcare for disabled children

(National Childcare Campaign Day Care Trust)

Choosing the right childcare can be a difficult decision for every parent, but can be particularly challenging if your child has a disability or special educational need. You may find it a struggle to access the childcare that you want and will have to fight for the services that your child needs. However childcare is now top of the agenda for local authorities. As a result, more information, funding, support and opportunities should be available for you and your children.
This guide aims to set out what should be available and will take you through your childcare options. There are tips on choosing the right childcare and guidance on what support your local authority should offer you. It looks at the financial help available for childcare costs, including funding specifically for disabled children. Useful contacts and sources of further information are also provided at the end of the guide.
